Year 8 Fraction Worksheets | Printable PDFs

Year 8 Fractions worksheets for Year 8 Maths (Key Stage 3). Students aged 11–12 practise simplifying fractions and ordering fractions. To simplify a fraction, divide the numerator (the number at the top) and denominator (number at the bottom) by the largest number that divides into both exactly. For example ⁵/₁₀ equals ½, because 5 ÷ 5 equals 1 (the numerator), and 10 ÷ 5 equals 2 (the denominator).
Students also develop skills working with mixed numbers and improper fractions. A mixed number contains a whole number and a fraction. For example, 2½. An improper fraction has a numerator that is greater than or equal to the denominator. Fractions can be converted into different forms - that is, mixed numbers and improper fractions.
